When I see one that I particularly enjoy, I almost wish that I could jump into the paint and swirl around in the landscape itself, like I’m in one of Bert’s chalk drawings in Mary Poppins. Though not my absolute personal favorite of painting genres, I’m still drawn to them as much as the next person. Things are beautiful, bucolic even, perhaps enlivened by a smattering of fluffy clouds or a sweet pink sunset. To many of us, it seems like there’s almost nothing seriously dramatic going on there.
